Rethink and Refine
The navigation is one of the most utilized features of the web app. Unfortunately with rapid growth of the product, the navigation failed to have adequate updates and design-thought as the sports offering grew larger and larger. With more data and products to highlight, we needed to rethink how the navigation fits into the user experience and allows for them to find where they want to go quickly, and easily.
Simplicity in Mind
As I went into an exercise of redesigning the navigation hierarchy, I focused on Simplification, Discoverability, and Value - all things that should remain consistent with products with large, nested navigation systems. I used spreadsheets and sketches to find the paths of least resistance in finding nested navigations, before applying a final design treatment and updating the design systems needed.
Testing
I worked with a UX researcher on the design team to conduct qualitative user interviews to see how the web users interpreted the new navigation, see their instinctual navigation path, and ensure our hypothesis were inline with their behaviors.
